A great mid-point in this Guyanese distiller’s range, sitting between the 5 year old and the 12 year old.
El Dorado use Scotch whisky style age statements, meaning that the youngest spirit in this bottling must be a minimum of 8 years old – no solera system here. The rum is aged in former Boubon American oak barrels, which impart a spicy vanilla note to the spirit.
The rum itself is rich in dark brown sugar flavours, toasted bananas, clear honey and milk chocolate notes, with a little woodspice.
A great value for money spirit, this is a versatile rum which is equally good in cocktails as when drunk neat.
