Sitting somewhere between the 5 year old and the 12 year old in Doorly’s range is this fantastic 8 year old bottling. Whilst the Doorly’s brand has been around since 1908, Foursquare took over its running in 1992, and this is a relatively new expression from the brand. Originally aimed at the Australian market, we at Fine Drams have managed to get our hands on a few bottles, and we can’t praise this rum highly enough! A marvellous blend of column still and pot still rum, this is a spirit of superb balance, with delicious estery aroma and a typically tropical bourbon cask profile. The finish brings a light oakiness and a little coconut. Would be a perfect addition to any cocktail that calls for a darker rum, whilst there is enough complexity for enjoyable straight sipping.
