A very interesting Rum Agricole from Guadelope! Unlike many of its Caribbean cousins, Rum Agricole is produced not using molasses or Demerara, but the fermented juice of the sugar cane itself. This produces a more aromatic and grassy style of rum. This rum has been matured for a minimum of 4 years in former Bourbon American oak barrels. According to the company: “The intense tropical humid days and temperate nights in Guadeloupe make for an aggressive aging climate for optimum wood and rhum interaction”. The spirit certainly seems to suggest they are right, with a rich fruity and exotic nose followed by a spicy and decadent palate. This is another wonderful and delicious Rum Agricole, presented in a classy and understated bottled, and slightly over-proof at 42% ABV.
