A whisky that has a remarkable popularity in Spain.
Cardhu was originally founded by a smuggler called John Cumming, in 1824. The distillery plays a vital role in supplying malt to Diageo’s Johnnie Walker range.
A real step up from the entry level 12 year old, this adds a lovely fudgy complexity, with notes of dark chocolate, pot-pourri, warm malt, toffee, plums, leather and black tea. A little stewed apple rounds out the palate.
An archetypal Speyside profile, the extra time in the barrel has given this dram a dignified maturity, whilst retaining Cardhu’s distinctive approachability.
A good old fashioned, no nonsense whisky, offering great maturity at a good price point.
