A lovely little expression from Cardhu, based in the Speyside village of Cardow.
Aged for 15 years, this bottling has had a little longer to mature than its 12 year old counterpart, producing a dram which is richer and more flavoursome.
Drinkers can expect notes of rich barley malt, apples, pears, white peach, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, slight saffron, a touch of pineapple and mango, some toasted coconut, almond, milk chocolate, toffee and oak.
Particularly popular in Spain, Cardhu’s lighter style really shines at a higher age.
Light and easy, smooth and delicious; much prefer it to the insignificant 12 year old. I ‘d suggest a cask strength 15 to give it that xtra greatness.
Never a fan of the 12 I found this one to be vastly superior and totally different. No nasty aftertaste and no woodiness. This and the Gold Reserve are worth a try
