Bols have carried a coffee liqueur in their stable since the 1800’s, when they produced a ‘Huile de Moka’ – translating as “Oil of Mocha” (the Yemeni city has been associated with coffee since the 1400s).
These days, the liqueur is made with a percolation of Colombian coffee and cacao beans in rum, forming a concentrate which is added to more rum, and blended with vanilla.
The final result is a rich coffee liqueur with notes of deep bitter chocolate, sweet rum, vanilla, honey, espresso and roasted coffee beans.
Would lend a wonderful depth to cocktails.
