A non-age-stated whisky that marks the return of Bladnoch after the distillery was reopened under new ownership in 2014. Samsara is a Sanskrit word which means “rebirth” in both Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Despite not carrying an age statement, we know that this whisky is a minimum of 8 years old, and has been aged in first fill former Bourbon barrels and first fill ex-Californian Red Wine casks. The result is a gorgeously fruity and complex whisky, which retains some youthful power, creating a fantastic balance between oak and spirit. Drinkers should expect a vanilla rich dram with plenty of stewed and dried fruit character. The whisky is bottled at 46.7% ABV, and is non chill filtered, which allows the flavours to fully express themselves. This is a limited release whisky, so drinkers should purchase now to avoid disappointment. Bladnoch Samara picked up a Silver Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition of 2017.
It taste good, but it doesn’t show the years old it is.
