A glorious single cask release from the tiny Speyside distillery. This whisky was left to mature in sherry butt number 1583 for a full 42 years before bottling. Interestingly enough, the distillery completed a long period of modernisation in 1974. The landmark year is excellently celebrated by this fantastic bottling, which is beautifully presented in a decanter-style bottle. The handsome presentation case also contains a small book about the history of the distillery. 42 years in a sherry cask has granted this whisky some truly special notes of juicy currants and sultanas, zesty citrus rind, manuka honey, alongside darker flavours of rich dense chocolate and bittersweet espresso. These flavours are all the more vivid for being bottled at a cask-strength of 49.1% ABV and without chill-filteration. This is decedent whisky with an intensity rarely paralleled, only 452 bottles were bottled from this cask, so move quickly to taste this beauty!
