A cracking dram from this tiny Speyside distillery, managed by veteran whisky bottlers Gordon and MacPhail.
The bottling has been aged in 80% Bourbon casks and 20% Sherry casks for the first nine years of maturation, before spending a year finishing entirely in Sherry casks.
The final result is a well balanced offering, which does not compromise on flavour.
Drinkers can expect notes of gristy barley, rich maple syrup, sweet sherry, vanilla, figs, charred oak, dates, ginger, some slightly herbal notes, toffee, grass, some Bourbon brightness, cinnamon, apples, hay, nutmeg and cloves.
Bottled at 43% ABV for a little more warmth, this is a classic Speyside dram that belies its age with complexity and depth.
