Another wonderful whisky from Amrut distillery. This is an Indian Single Malt whisky, though this is distilled with barley sourced in Scotland and India, marking a true “fusion” of the two nations! Indeed, the Scottish barley used in this whisky was peated, marking a meeting of styles between the barley-forward Amrut and classic peated Scotch. The result is a whisky of tremendous character, with lots of toasty oak and caramel cask notes, accompanied by a bright cereal flavour and a light-yet-ever-present peat. Since its release in 2009, this whisky has picked up award after award: Jim Murray named it the Third Finest Whisky in the world in 2010, in 2012 it was voted best whisky to make a Rob Roy with by the Ultimate Cocktail, and in 2014 the Wizards of Whisky Awards gave it a gold medal. This whisky is bottled at 50%, and without either chill filtration or caramel colouring.
