A fantastic Irish single malt from Walsh Whiskey Distillery. This is a fantastic, triple distilled whiskey, aged entirely in first-fill former Bourbon casks with a heavy char for a real intensity of flavour. Only 6,000 bottles of this whisky is produced a year, with only the very best casks making the cut to be bottled. On the nose, this dram opens with lovely cereal notes and a good malty toffee. Aromas of vanilla, bright oak, honey, caramel and cloves leap up at the drinker. On the palate this whisky has a thick and creamy mouthfeel, with peppery vanilla spice, orchard fruits, mangos, barrel char, cherries and a classically Irish grassy quality. The finish is fudgy and long, with a deep chocolaty note. This won both a Gold medal and a Best in Class award at the International Spirits Challenge of 2013.
