We’ve all heard of finished whisky – but what about Finnish whisky?!

This is a single malt dram from Finland, produced at the Teerenpeli distillery. This distillery has been running since 2002, and is operated by a husband and wife team.

Savu has been made with peated Finnish malted barley (Savu is Finnish for smoke). The whisky is aged in a combination of former Bourbon barrels, and Pedro Ximinez sherry casks, in an 80:20 ratio.

The final product is a sophisticated dram, which offers notes of tarry smoke, apples, pears, almond, some oily citrus, smoked plums and prunes, figs in syrup, toasted nuts and wood smoke.

A really interesting, and rather delicious whisky, bottled without chill filtration or colouration.
