A simply staggeringly good rum selected by Oliver and Oliver, who have been in the rum business since 1874, and should know a thing or two about good spirits.
A rum from the Dominican Republic, this has been distilled in pot stills, creating a more characterful spirit. The rum has been matured in a solera system, with Oliver and Oliver giving the age as over 30 years. The rum also marks the 30th anniversary of the Ron Quorhum brand.
This is a luxurious and deeply flavoured dark rum, with a thick, almost syrupy mouthfeel. Notes of dark oak and mahogany, toffee, dried fruits, tropical fruits, sweet wine, burnt sugar, treacle tart and vanilla really take hold with this rum. Nevertheless, the spirit maintains a superb balance between oak and spirit, and retains a well-rounded character.
As always with Oliver and Oliver, this is a rum that looks as good as it tastes, presented in a boldly designed, heavy bottomed bottle.
Rarely does one come across as rum as old, or as well-balanced as this one. Truly a bottling that illustrates just how good the spirit can be, and a once in a lifetime bottling for rum drinkers.
