A superb single cask rum from Rivière du Mât, located on the island of Réunion, in the Indian ocean.

This is a rum agricole, produced from the fresh pressed juice of sugar cane growing in Réunion’s highly fertile, volcanic soil. The rum has been aged in a single cask, patiently matured in Réunion’s tropical heat. This bottling was laid down in 2003 and bottled in 2020, a quite incredible maturation considering Réunion’s climate.

The final result is a sumptuous and complex expression, serving up flavours of soft tobacco leaf, ripe pineapple and banana, allspice, cloves, cinnamon, black pepper, tannic oak, milk chocolate, lime rind and slightly earthiness.

A unique drinking experience, and one of the best rum’s we’ve tried from this distillery.
