Renegade rum is founded by whisky industry legend, Mark Reynier (previously of Bruichladdich fame).
This rum has been made with the fresh sugarcane juice of the Lacalome Red cane variety. The spirit is then distilled in a traditional double-retort pot still, creating a fruity, characterful and richly flavoured rum.
The producer explains the terroir of this rum: “Dunfermline farm is surrounded by rainforest, but oddly, gets little rainfall itself and water runs down from the nearby hills into the moisture-retentive soil. This is a traditional cane growing area and typically shows high yield and healthy harvests.”
The final product is a bright and fruity rum, with notes of sugar cane funk, pineapple, bananas, mango, menthol, sweetened lime juice, green wood, more succulent cane, cinnamon and ground coriander.
