The Lot no. 20 Reserve Speciale from Ragnaud Sabourin. Ragnaud Sabourin is an esteemed family-owned Cognac estate which dates back to 1850. They are known for producing the highest quality Cognac from the premier cru Grande Champagne region. This Cognac has been produced entirely out of the Ugni Blanc grape strain, known for its flavoursome quality and history of producing excellent Cognacs. This particular bottling has been aged for at least 20 years in French Oak casks, giving it an extraordinary depth of flavour and rounded character. The nose on this cognac is a real beauty, with waves of oily rich grape aromas, floral notes and earthy dried fruit. The palate is faithful to the nose, adding a dense oaky flavour, with dried fruits and toffee. The finish is long, lingering long after the spirit, with toasted spice, toffee and dried fruit. An absolutely fantastic Cognac, that benefits from being bottled at the slightly higher proof of 43% ABV.
