Part of Puni’s VINA series, which uses different wine casks to create unique flavour profiles. Vina is the Latin word for ‘wine’ – a fitting title for this single malt distilled in the Italian alps.
This time, they’ve matured their spirit in Marsala Vergine casks from Sicily. Vergine signifies that the wine has been matured for a minimum for 5 years, meaning that the casks have had plenty of time to soak up juicy Marsala flavours.
The final result is a fruity, spicy whisky, with notes of red grape, cherry, strawberry, dessert wine, sultanas, prunes, cinnamon, hazelnut and walnut, dark chocolate and oak.
The whisky is a fabulously rosy bronze colour.
It is bottled at 43% ABV, but is also non chill filtered and natural in colour – it may cloud slightly at cooler temperatures, but this is a natural result of the dram’s lack of filtration.
Presented in a handsome, modern box, which is designed to recall the cubic nature of Puni’s distillery.
