A super-peaty single malt from Bruichladdich Distillery’s Port Charlotte range. This is the fifth release in Bruichladdich’s Cask Exploration Series - which showcases Port Charlotte spirit in a range of different barrels.

This 2012 single vintage whisky was made using barley grown entirely on the island of Islay, within 10 miles of the distillery – a first for the Cask Exploration collection. The barley was peated to 40ppm prior to distillation in Bruichladdich’s iconic narrow necked stills.

After distillation, the spirit was matured in a combination of Sherry butts and second-fill American whiskey barrels. Whisky from these barrels, at different maturity levels, was then transferred into high quality Sauternes wine casks - with the dessert wine lending beautiful sweet and fruity flavours to the natural smoke of the spirit.

Drinkers should expect notes of sweet peaches and yellow plums, classic Bruichladdich flowers, ripe pineapple, burnt brown sugar, thick peat smoke, toasted oak, marzipan, sweet grapes, vanilla, melon, leather, smouldering wood, apples, pepper, cinnamon and oily nuts.

Bottled at 55.2% ABV,. this is a satisfying and rich dram. ]
