A highly anticipated release from Bruichladdich’s Port Charlotte range, this is one of the older PC bottlings that Bruichladdich have released.
Nevertheless, the dram still serves up the classic peaty flavours of previous releases, just with a little more maturity and depth. The whisky is peated to 40ppm, which put its up there with some of Islay’s biggest hitters (though not Bruichladdich’s own, hyper-peated Octomore series).
This dram delivers flavours of vanilla custard, old oak, ginger, fudge, peppery spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, thick floral peat, mango, lemon zest, coconut, sea spray, wood smoke and cream.
Bottled at a hefty 50% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a fully flavoured whisky.
A terrific bottling that demonstrates what Port Charlotte is all about.
