The .2 installment of the 14th edition of Bruichladdich’s hyper-peaty Octomore series.
Each .2 bottling of Octomore is made with 100% Scottish barley, and matured in a different European oak cask. This particular expression has been matured in casks that previously held Oloroso and Amarone wine, picked out by Bruichladdich Head Distiller Adam Hannett. The whisky was then finished for a year in Paulliac wine casks, giving a final age of 5 years.
This Octomore was peated to a seriously smoky 128.9 PPM.
The end result is a dram that offers notes of intense dry peat smoke, pipe tobacco, dried fruits, cinnamon, acidic green apples, plums, raspberries, crunchy malt, pear, burning oak, leather, red grapes, fruit cake, coffee beans, nutmeg and clove.
Bottled at a robust cask strength of 57.7% ABV.
