The 14th outturn of Bruichladdich’s hyper-peated Octomore single malt whiskies.
This is the .1 bottling, which in Octomore’s numbering system means it is the bottling that has been aged mostly in first-fill former American oak barrel barrels. With every Octomore outturn - this is the ‘standard’ edition that reflects its core characteristics.
14.1 was distilled in 2017 from Concerto barley 100% grown in Scotland, and peated to 128.9ppm, before being aged in first-fill Bourbon casks for five years.
The final result is a rippingly peated dram, with notes of intense phenolic peat, bonfire embers, roasted tropical fruits, burnt oak, nuts, lemon rind, iodine, oranges, black pepper, charred malt, espresso, toffee, sea spray, some Bruichladdich flowers and a touch of coconut flake.
A surprisingly tropical Octomore, bottled at a powerful cask strength of 59.6% ABV.
