The entry level bottling in Lemorton’s range, which is an excellent introduction to their superb range of Calvados with a twist.
This family-run distillery is found in the Domfrontais appellation, an area known for being of the best in the world for growing pears (this is due to high concentrations of limestone and clay in the soil). As such, Domfrontais regulations require at least a minimum of 30% pear juice in all cider and Calvados made in the region. Lemorton go well beyond this, using 70% pear to 30% apples to create their spirit.
The pears and apples are grown at their tiny 9-acre orchard, and fermented for 11 months in oak barrels, before being distilled in their single alembic.
This youthful Calvados is packed with notes of juicy orchard fruits, pears and apples, pressed flowers, hay, bright oak, vanilla, cream, peppery alcoholic spice and caramel.
Lemorton Reserve is one of the best Calvados bottlings available at this price point.
