Truly something special from Laphroaig: a 25 year old single malt, bottled at a cask strength of 46.8% ABV. Known as “the most richly flavoured of all Scotch whiskies”, this dram certainly lives up to the billing, having been matured in a mixture of American oak and former Oloroso sherry casks.
The whisky has a truly outstanding palate, rich in the classic medicinal and peaty flavours for which Laphroaig is known, which have become subtler over time, whilst retaining that honest sense of peaty fire. The cask maturation has imbued this whisky with dignified oak flavours, rich dried fruit and sherried plums, dried mango, and old sweet wine. All in all, this is a tour de force of a whisky from Laphroaig, and one of the very finest distillery bottlings we’ve had come through our store.
This whisky might have a surprisingly low ABV for a cask strength, but this often makes for a superb concentration of flavour, as is the case with this Laphroaig.
The whisky is bottled with a bold black and gold colour scheme, and comes with its own gold-inlaid presentation case, which is sure to catch the eye. A once in a lifetime dram that will appeal to every fan of Laphroaig.
