When Laphroaig set about making Lore, they wanted to create a whisky that really reflected the distillery’s history, whilst using some of the innovative techniques that represent its future. Laphroaig has been producing legendary single malt whisky on Islay since 1815, and during this time, each distiller has passed down their crucial knowledge to the next generation, to continue craft of whisky-making. This is the Lore of Laphroaig. The whisky itself is a formidably peaty offering, with the classic iodine rich profile that sets Laphroaig apart. Further layers of complexity have been added to this whisky, with maturation occurring in European oak hogsheads, quarter casks, ex-peated whisky casks, and first fill sherry casks. Lore was then bottled at a hefty 48% ABV without chill filtration, ensuring the drinker experiences maximum flavour. A beautiful dram, and a fitting tribute to the history of this fine old distillery.
