An exciting, innovative whiskey blend from Jim Beam.
This bottling sees Jim Beam’s classic Kentucky Bourbon blended with heavily peated whisky from the Highland distillery of Ardmore. The spirit is aged in American oak barrels, imparting notes of vanilla and toffee.
The result is a very interesting whiskey indeed, serving up classic Bourbon flavours of cornbread, honey, cinnamon and cloves, underpinned by a slight smoky maltiness. The peat is very subtle and light, just enough to add complexity without dominating the spirit.
Whilst Jim Beam aren’t the first to experiment with Bourbon-Scotch hybrids, it is always interesting to see the larger distilleries trying new things with their products.
A fascinating and rather delicious offering, this should appeal to Scotch and Bourbon fans alike.
