The Áras an Uachataráin, after which this whiskey is named, is the principle workplace and official residence of the President of Ireland (currently Michael D. Higgins).
A single grain Irish whiskey, the spirit was distilled in a Coffey Still from a mashbill of corn and barley. This dram has been aged in first fill former Bourbon American oak casks for a minimum of 6 years.
The result is a classic grassy Irish single grain whiskey, with rich notes of vanilla, creamed honey, fresh bright oak, milk chocolate, peppery spice, cinnamon, cloves, green apples, Bourbony corn, hay and toasted hazelnut.
Bottled at 46% ABV and without chill filtration, this is a luscious, satisfying whiskey.
To further enhance the patriotic credibility of this dram, it also features a reference to the 1916 Easter Rising, which greatly advanced the cause of Irish independence, on the label.
Just 5,000 bottles were produced.
