An unusual finish from Australia’s largest production distillery. This whisky pairs Australian single malt with casks from Australia’s wine industry. This expression takes the Hellyers Road classic bourbon cask whisky and matures it for a period in Pinot Noir casks. The distillery claims that this “delightful spirit evokes all the complexities of a Tasmanian rainforest”. Certainly, this is a fresh and fruity whisky, with a rich sweetness and highlights of citrus rind. Pinot Noir is a more delicate red wine than the bold Ports and Bordeauxs that are often used in whisky maturation, and this creates a spirit of incredible subtlety. In 2013, Hellyers Road Pinot Noir Finish was winner of the title of “Best New World Whisky” in a blind tasting performed at the Whisky Live fair in Paris. Whilst in 2015, this whisky was adjudged by The Spirits Business Magazine to be a “Master”, and one of the top ten best value whiskies available in the United Kingdom.
