Hellyers Road distillery is found in the North-Western corner of Tasmania, a location auspiciously blessed with fertile land, and plentiful rain which is blown in by the Roaring Forties. The Roaring Forties are strong winds that blow west-to-east around the globe’s southern reaches, usually in excess of 40 miles per hour. These winds travel across large tracts of open ocean, rarely crossing other landmasses until they reach Tasmania, bringing with them rain and, historically, trade. Aptly, this whisky has been bottled at 40%, and represents the entry point in Hellyers Road’s standard range. Like the Original Single Malt and the 10 year old, this whisky has been aged in American oak ex-bourbon casks, and his laden with rich vanilla and toffee flavours. An excellent starting point for those getting to know Australian whisky.
