A well aged Cognac from the tiny Borderies cru.
This spirit was bottled by Grosperrin from their outstanding “Les Lots” range, which presents some of the very finest eaux-de-vie in their reserves.
The spirit was originally included in a family inheritance, passed down to the son and widow of a Borderies farmer and winemaker. One of the family grandsons now operates the property, a large estate, but the Cognac stock is managed separately. Prior to Grosperrin’s purchase of this parcel of spirit through a broker, it was housed in a cellar in the centre of the village of Burie, which is itself located at the heart of the Borderies Cru.
After Grosperrin bought the spirit, they continued to age it in their own cellars in Saintes, by the banks of the river Charente. A small dilution with the addition of water was made a few years back, but other than that, the spirit has been allowed to mature entirely naturally.
The final product serves up notes of fresh flowers, violets, dried fruits, spiced tea, toffee, old oak, rancio, oily nuts, cigar box (cedar wood), liquorice, chocolate and vanilla.
A crisp, elegant and full bodied Cognac with a wonderful floral profile.
