A fascinating offering from Cognac experts Grosperrin. This is a very small batch bottling.
Moût Muté au Cognac, or MMC as they have stylised it, is a kind of pineau liqueur made from the must of white or red grapes, combined with Cognac. Grosperrin’s liqueur is made with grapes and Cognac from the same estate, ensuring a great sense of terroir. The director of the company, Guilhem Grosperrin, visits each vineyard and wine-maker before purchasing, to ensure the quality and understand the wine-making process behind the product.
This bottling is an off dry MMC, aged on the lees and aged in former Cognac casks for several years (Grosperrin make a point of aging their pineau longer than most). The result is a subtly sweet liqueur with notes of bright grapes, white peaches, some gentle Cognac spice, oak, a little almond and pastry, and some refreshing acidity.
Presented in ultra-cool bottles, with superb artistic labels.
