A very fine old Grande Champagne Cognac, bottled by the highly regarded Grosperrin company.
This spirit was originally owned by a Cognac broker known for being protective of his spirit. He would buy stocks of Cognac in his local village, and held onto the finest examples in a barn he had converted into a cellar. Here he had about 15 barrels, which were covered in black plastic sheeting to prevent the Angel’s Share from taking too much. He jealously guarded his collection, fitting thick metal doors on the barn and not even allowing his children or wife to enter. It was only as he was at the very end of his life, that he let his son have a look inside the barn.
What they discovered a collection of exceedingly rare Grande Champagne Cognacs, marked with the origin of the spirit, the vintage, the amount purchased and the proof and volume. The family began to sell the eaux-de-vie, finally benefitted from the husbands years of obsession.
This particular bottling offers up notes of ripe juicy plums, Port wine, rancio, cinnamon, dark leather, dried golden grapes, old dusty oak, vanilla, dried fruits, honey and citrus rind.
A rich, decadent Cognac, accompanied by a beautiful wood-finished presentation box.
