A very well aged Cognac, selected and bottled by the Grosperrin House.
This is a highly traditional Cognac that perfectly captures the essence of the Bons Bois cru. This often overlooked cru offers fascinating complexity and depth of flavour, with grapes in the region growing in a mixture of clay and sand soils and at higher altitudes.
The grapes for this Cognac were grown at one of the many family-owned farms in the region, which sadly closed in 2003. The spirit has been distilled in small stills over a naked flame from wood fires, a practice that is very rarely seen these days.
The spirit itself delivers notes of sweet dried fruits, candied ginger, salted caramel, dark oak, nougat, toffee, milk chocolate, tannic oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, leather and orange rind.
A mature Cognac of a rare quality.
