Grosperrin 1989 Fins Bois Cognac (Lot N°865)
A wonderful single vintage Cognac, bottled by the esteemed House of Grosperrin.
This spirit was distilled way back in 1989, and is made with grapes grown at a small farm in the village of Brie-sous-Matha, in the Saintonge wine-region of the Fins Bois cru. The village is famed as one of the most picturesque in the region, and its clay-limestone soil is perfect for vine growing.
This Cognac was long-aged, and finished its maturation in Grosperrin’s own cellars.
The spirit itself offers aromatic notes of toasted spices (cloves, white pepper, cardamom and cinnamon), vanilla oak, red cherries and dark leather. With time, the Cognac becomes tropical, with a little acidic grape, mango, pineapple and lemon rind, joined by milk chocolate, dried fruits, flowers, honey and freshly cut apples and pears.
This Cognac is true one off and another bottling that showcases Grosperrin’s ability to pick out stellar small-holding spirit lots. Only 364 litres of the 1989 vintage were bottled.
