A superb vintage Cognac from the esteemed bottlers, Grosperrin.
This Cognac comes from a small farm in the Fins Bois cru. Fins Bois is an enormous region, that outstrips even Burgundy in terms of total vineyard size. As such, the quality can vary greatly, and Grosperrin have to look long and hard to find the best quality spirit. Nevertheless, the finest eaux-de-vie from the cru can stand up to the very best offerings from the more prestigious crus of Petite and Grand Champagne.
After distillation, this Cognac was aged in old casks under state control in the Organisation Economique Cognac cellars. The final result is a delicious, complex and densely flavoured spirit that is typical of the chalky, limestone rich soil of the Fins Bois cru.
This Cognac serves up notes of old oak, Mirabelle plums, dried apricot, fresh cherry and black plums, soft cinnamon and cloves, nutmeg, rancio, some delightful herbal notes, toffee and vanilla. A bright and slightly sweet finish.
Bottled at a warming proof of 47.8% ABV, this is a full bodied and satisfying Cognac.
