A sumptuous bottling from the well-aged Cognac experts, Grosperrin.
A 1969 vintage from the Petite Champagne Cru, this is one of the oldest and most delicious Cognacs you are ever likely to encounter. The cognac comes from a notable Cognac family, who have lived in the area for generations. The patriarch of the family originally purchased this parcel of stock in April of 1970, expecting it to rise in price so he could quickly cash in.
Unfortunately, the post-Vietnam war economic depression, and the oil crisis of the 1970s meant that Cognac demanded dipped. This batch found its way into the control of the state, where it remained until Grosperrin purchased it.
The final result is a rich, opulent and complex Cognac that delivers notes of dense notes of burnt oak, sultanas, dried apricot, orange rind, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon, lime leaves, fresh flowers, rancio, tobacco smoke and cedarwood.
Bottled at 46.4% ABV, and without caramel or boisé, this is a full bodied Cognac packed with flavour.
This bottling picked up a gold medal at the 2015 London Cognac Masters.
