An interesting peated expression from Highland distillery The Glenturret, which has a claim to be the oldest working distillery in Scotland.

Glenturret releases a new peated 10 year old every year, harking back to the distillery’s long history of producing peated whisky. This is the 2022 expression.

The spirit itself has been aged in a combination of American and European oak casks for 10 years, before being bottled at a warming 50% ABV.

The final product is enjoyably peaty dram, with notes of toasted malt, nuts, sea spray, floral peat smoke, cinnamon, charred oak, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, wood ash, apples, orange-flavoured dark chocolate and black cherries.

A sophisticated and elegantly peated dram, beautifully presented in a decanter style bottle.
