The third release in Glengoyne’s ‘The Legacy’ series.
This range celebrates the crucial occasions and characters in the history of the distillery found in the Valley of the Wild Geese.
Sir Arthur John Tedder is the man honoured by this bottling, an exciseman who defined the rules of Scotch whisky when he was called as first witness in the Royal Commission into Whiskey and other potable spirits.
Tedder’s evidence helped to create the whisky industry as we know it today, establishing that blends could be called both whisky and Scotch (if distilled in Scotland). Tedder was an impressive man in every regard, also helping to establish the UK’s pension system.
This whisky celebrates his legacy by applying the same exacting standards and attention to detail he insisted upon.
The spirit itself has been aged in high quality American oak Sherry casks, producing a dram with notes of apple pie, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, rum and raisin ice cream, fresh buttery pastry, dates, blackberries, red grapes, rich oak, malt, coffee and caramel.
Bottled at 48% ABV for a touch more body, this is a rich and satisfying single malt.
