A soft, yet robust and deeply flavoured entry level offering from Glengoyne, the valley of the wild geese.
A crisp and very pure spirit, Glengoyne tends to absorb plenty of flavour from the cask. This 12 year old has been aged in Sherry barrels, and represents a lighter Highland whisky (indeed, the distillery is found a little outside Glasgow and offers some aspects of the traditional Lowland style).
Drinkers can expect notes of dried fruits, nuts, lemon rind, toffee, toasted malt, vanilla, sherry, honeysuckle, orange blossom, milk chocolate, figs, plums, apple, pear and a touch of grass.
Well balanced, Glengoyne 12 is bottled at 43% ABV for a touch more warmth.
Excellent work from Glengoyne and their distillery manager, Robbie Hughes.
