A distillery on the rise, Glencadam’s superb spirit has been overlooked by drinkers for far too long now, so it is only right that it is beginning to make waves in the malt whisky market.
First released in 2008, this 15 year old is a good representative for Glencadam’s spirit. Indeed, it is the core of malty spirit that does most of the heavy lifting in this whisky, with the cask and wood influence taking a back seat.
Drinkers should expect notes of toffee, bursting citrus, honey, ginger, blackberries and fruit cake. There is just a hint of dusty oak here. The body is supple and medium, boosted by the 46% ABV and lack of chill filtration, which allow the natural characteristics of this dram to take hold.
An excellent whisky, well worth trying out. Good work from Angus Dundee.
