An excellent addition to the underrated Campbeltown distillery’s range, this 25 year old usurps the 21 year old at the top of Glen Scotia’s range.
This spirit was some of the last to be distilled before the distillery’s close-down between 1994 and 1999. The spirit has been matured in American oak barrels for 24 years, before spending a final year finishing in first fill Bourbon casks.
The final result is a classic Campbeltown dram, with notes of sea salt, red apples, caramel, ginger, pine, lemon rind, earthy peat, vanilla, hot cinnamon, oily corn, malt, old oak, and resinous wood.
Bottled at 48.8% ABV and without chill filtration this is a fully flavoured and delicious dram with a good, creamy mouthfeel.
The bottle is presented with a handsome wooden box, engraved with Campbeltown’s coordinates.
