Added to the range of this venerable old Speyside distillery in 2016, the 12 year old bottling is a wonderful opportunity to try Glen Grant’s spirit without chill filtration. This bottling was initially released for the travel retail market.
Aged in former Bourbon American oak casks, Glen Grant’s delicate, fruity spirit provides much of the flavour here.
The bottling delivers notes of citrus rind, light oak, gentle vanilla, red apple, toasted malt, strawberries, orange juice, a touch of nutmeg and cinnamon, some minerality, gingerbread, peppery spice, toffee, pastry and beeswax.
Not only is this whisky non chill filtered, but it is bottled at 48% ABV, giving it a great texture and intensity.
A top value bottling, this 12 year old is a great option for anyone looking for a higher quality daily drinker.
Very good products
Compared to the standard 12 year old bottling, this version takes it to another level. Sweet fruity notes with an oily waxy mouthfeel akin to the excellent Clynelish 14 year old, this is a good Speyside representation. Glen Grant should consider releasing future standards with a higher abv and without chill filtration. Recommended.
