A very interesting spirits indeed, part of a growing trend of barrel aged gin. FEW distillery is found in Evanston, Illinois, a county that endured prohibition for 100 years, and was one of the centres of the temperance movement. It is ironic then, that FEW take their name from the initials of Frances Elizabeth Willard, one of the leaders of the temperance movement.
This American gin is craft-produced in small batches, and aged in oak barrels for four months. This gives the gin an extra layer of sweet, spicy complexity, alongside the delicious botanical nature of the gin. Somewhat comparable to a genever, this is an excellent option for adding a slightly woody, earthy element to gin cocktails, or as an alternative to whiskey over ice. The gin is bottled at the higher strength of 46.5% ABV, non-chill-filtered and natural in colour.
