Wemyss will be well known to whisky drinkers for their excellent independently bottled single malts and blends. What they might not know is that they also produce a superb gin! Darnley’s View takes its name from a fateful meeting in 1565, when Mary Queen of Scots first set eyes on Lord Darnley’s through a courtyard window at Wemyss castle. The two would later be married. This is a traditional style London Dry gin, with a classic line up of six botanicals: juniper, lemon peel, elderflower, angelica root, coriander seed and orris root. The gin is quite light in body, having been distilled four times, making for an elegant, yet flavoursome spirit. The elderflower shines through in this gin, with a delectable floral note. Fantastic value for money, and a real cocktail workhouse, incredibly versatile.
