One of three releases originally meant for travel retail as part of Dalmore’s Fortuna Merita range. Luckily a few bottles have made it on to our shelves! Fortuna Merita translates from latin as “fortune favours the brave”, and certainly, Dalmore have been bold in their choices of casks! This expression offers great value, coming in a larger one litre bottle.
Dalmore Regalis is the introductory expression in the Fortuna Merita. Yet, do not be uncertain of its quality, such is the excellent casks used across the range (with the Dominium and Luceo being matured in Matusalem and Apostoles casks respectively). Regalis is matured in Amoroso, a style of sweetened Oloroso sherry. Oloroso has long been a distiller’s favourite, lending fantastic notes of dried fruits and dark oak. Here, these flavours are also joined by sweeter, succulent prune flavours and sweet wine aromas. Amoroso roughly translates from the Spanish as “lovingly”, and this is fitting for a rich, warming whisky that has been constructed as a labour of love.
