This whisky is named in honour of an event that occurred over 750 years ago, back in 1263, when the Chief of the Clan Mackenzie saved the life of the King of Scotland, King Alexender III. Faced with a charging stag, the Chief felled the animal before it could harm his sovereign, and in return, was granted the stag as his emblem. The Mackenzie clan eventually took over Dalmore, and every bottle carries their crest to this day
There is a recent trend of mad, multicasked whiskies which has taken the world by storm. Dalmore, keen not to miss out, have stepped up to the plate with a magnificent whisky, matured in no less than Six (Six!) casks- Wine, Madiera, Port, Marsala, Port, and Bourbon. You have to hand it to Richard Patterson, this is a marvellously balanced whisky, rich with fudgy fruits, orange liqueur and with a good honest cereal core.
