An excellent gin offering from Cognac-producer Maison Ferrand.
Jardin d’Été, which translates literally as “summer garden”, is clearly inspired by the season of warmth and fruitfulness. Boasting no less than 22 different botanicals, the flagship flavouring is “Melon Charentais” – a highly valued French variety of cantaloupe melon, said to be amongst the sweetest and most fragrant melons ever cultivated.
This fruit is used alongside traditional gin ingredients such as juniper and citrus rind, and more interesting inclusions like Szechuan peppercorn.
The result is a verdant, fruity contemporary-styled gin, featuring notes of bright juniper, soft herbs, earthy spice, lemon and orange rind, sweet melon and yuzu flesh.
Makes a terrific Martini.
