A classic Spanish brandy from Jerez, produced by the Osborne family.
This bottling has been matured in a traditional solera system.
This method of ageing spirit sees a series of casks filled with spirit. When it comes time to bottle the brandy, the eldest cask is tapped and partially emptied. Then it is filled with spirit from the next eldest cask, and so on, until the youngest cask is refilled with new spirit. The result is a brandy containing a mixture of ages, and a very consistent final product.
Carlos III has an average age of 6 years, and is aged in a solera system containing Oloroso sherry casks, producing a brandy with notes of spicy tobacco, prunes in syrup, vanilla, toasted nuts, sweet grapes, a little oak, citrus rind and toffee.
A great value brandy, perfect for using in cocktails, but equally delicious sipped neat.
