Bottega winery’s take on this traditional Italian liqueur.
This classic Limoncello is produced using Femminello – an Italian cultivar of lemon which is characterised by its thin grained peel and higher quality of citrus oils.
This fertile plant flowers all year round, and is found across the Italian peninsula. For this bottling, the fruits are hand harvested when perfectly ripe, before being washed and peeled by hand.
Bottega insist on using only the yellow peel (not the bitter white pith), ensuring the most flavoursome essential oils make it into the final product. These peels are added to alcohol for about a month, before being combined with top quality grappa and sugar, for a sweet and characterful liqueur.
The result is a crisp, delicious Limoncello with rich flavours of lemon, subtle white grapes, fragrant citrus rind, syrupy fruits, and breakfast juice.
