Wow! Bombay Sapphire’s exotic cousin! Strikingly good looking with its black and silver label and South-East Asian characters, this bottling takes the flavours of the east as its muse! As such, East sees Thai Lemongrass and Vietnamese peppercorns added to the standard Bombay ten botanicals: almond, lemon peel, liquorice, juniper berries, orris root, angelica, coriander, cassia, cubeb, and grains of paradise (also known as Guinea pepper). The bottling was the first ever extension to the Bombay Sapphire line, and was extremely popular with test markets in the US. Bombay Sapphire hoped to counteract some of the oversweet tonic waters on sale in the States, with a higher proof, and more citric flavours. East is an award-winning gin, picking up gold medals in both the 2012 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and the International Spirits Challenge of the same year. This bottling has proved a little tricky to get hold of and very popular in Europe and the UK, so get some whilst you can!
