Speculaas liqueur is a special bottling produced only by the Dutch Zuidam distillery.
The liqueur takes its name from the small sweet cinnamon biscuits often served aside coffee in the Netherlands. The Amandel edition is bottled at a higher proof, and is said to have a more precise flavour palate compared to the original.
The bottling is made to a secret recipe of herbs, spices and botanicals, inspired by the days when the Netherlands was the centre of the world’s spice trade. We do this liqueur is made with cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, pepper and vanilla, amongst other ingredients.
The final result is a rich, sweet liqueur which delivers notes of: fragrant cardamom, toffee, anise, cinnamon, peppery spice, chopped herbs, nutmeg, vanilla, ginger and cloves. A very festive feeling dram.
Excellent served after dinner, this liqueur would also do beautifully in mulled wines and punches.
